DOH-Miami-Dade’s WIC Program hosts the 4th Annual Homestead/Florida City Health and Resource Fair

November 29, 2017

Miami, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County WIC Program will host the 4th Annual Holiday Homestead/Florida City Health and Resource Fair at the Homestead/Florida City WIC clinic located at 753 West Palm Drive, Florida City, FL 33034 on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children - better known as the WIC Program - serves to safeguard the health of low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating including breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to health care.

Last year, the event had a fantastic turnout with over 1600 participants and 50+ community organizations collaborating in the event. As a result, we were able to distribute 500 bags of food, 700 children’s books, 600 toys and over 230 health and dental screenings.

Families will be able to take a FREE memorable holiday photo with Santa and visit with local vendors, enjoy music, children activities, fitness classes, and receive free massages, free food distribution by FarmShare, health and dental screenings and much more!  Raffles will be conducted periodically throughout the fair giving away wonderful prizes!
